Cheltenham Wednesday 2010 - Betting advice and tips for the Queen mother champion chase, champion bumper, RSA chase, neptune novice hurdle etc
Cheltenham Wednesday:
1:30 140th Year of The National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup (Amateur Ridersī Novicesī Chase) cl2 4m
A very tough race to make a call. Jonjo O'Neil has a good record in the race and Syncronised 8/1 could go close. Becauseicouldnet see is an interesting runner at 12/1. I am going to suggest two who have some eachway value. Pettifour 14/1 is the class horse whose jumping is in quesion but may be ok at this slower pace and Mobaasher 14/1 who was a smart hurdler whose jumping is ok.
Rite of Passage is a worthy favourite but his chances are priced accordingly. Reve de Sivola is not a fluent jumper. Finian's Rainbow should be respected But i like Quel Esprit 5/1 and Peddlers Cross e/w.
2:40 RSA Chase Grade 1 Cl1 3m110y
Trainer Nicky Henderson has called Long Run 5/2 and Punchestowns 4/1 his Kauto Star and Denman so a battle royal can be expected between these horses
in the RSA Chase. LOng Run is favourite because of a worry with Punchestowns foot that Henderson says is ok and hasnt affected his preparation for the
race. I thing that Long Run might well be the winner but there is no value in the price! Diamond Harry 7/1 has done little wrong and has a great chance.
Weapons Amnesty is another withh good form and a good trainer. Burton Port is one who is not out of the picture and could run well at a big price.
My selection is Punchestown eachway at 4/1. He has a great chance and you gt your money back if he is in the frame.
Masterminded 5/6 is a true Champion who has dominated the 2 mile chasing scene for the past few years. Paul Nicholls is
the best trainer around and the jockey Ruby Walsh is a brilliant horseman. So the Queen Mother Champion Chase is a forgone conclusion !
Perhaps, but there have been signs that Masterminded is not as good as he once was. He won well last time out but in his two previous starts
he did not run to his normal standard. At Punchestown last April he won but Big Zeb 9/1 fell at the last looking all over the winner. His normal
front running gallop without stopping was not in evidence! He is the most likely winner but at 5/6 he is priced accordingly and i would not
be paying to find out! Big Zeb would have a great chance if he could jump but that is a huge question mark against him! Twist Magic 7/1 has been
rejuvenated this year and could win but he doesnt like Cheltenham and his record here is appalling! Forpadydeplasterer 9/1 will have his ground and
could run a massive race and represents a bit of value but he tends to finnish second too often for me. Well Chief 33/1 is not the horse he once was.
Petit Robin 20/1 could go well at a big price. But, i like Kalahari King 5/1, trained by Ferdy Murphy who is great at getting them ready for the
Festival, who will like the ground, has run well at Cheltenham and i think will be in the first three so represents a bit of value!
4:00 Coral Cup (Handicap Hurdle) Grade 3 Cl1 2m5f
How difficult is this one? i havent had a chance to study the form since the declarations so i cannot make stab at the result.
If i have a bet it will be decided on the day but it will be for small stakes and lttle confidence! Tricky to say the least.
I think that the two at the head of the market are the ones to be on and Sanctuaire 6/1 is the pick. Notus De La Tour 11/2 will probably romp home now! I think that the prices are a bit skinny and may keep my powder dry!
5:15 Weatherbys Champion Bumper (Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race) Grade 1 Cl1 2m110y
Elegant Concorde 7/1 and Shot from the hip 7/1 head the market. Drumbaloo has been well backed recently. This is a one to watch race really as a number of runners will return next year! Willie Mullins is the bumper king and a little eachway on Bishopfurze 14/1 and Up Ou That 16/1 may pay dividends although watch for money coming in on his other runners as well!
