Fixed Odds Permutations - Cover A Number Of Games In A Multi Bet

Most people are aware of a Permutations bet for things like the Pools, The tote6 or a race meeting Jackpot and Placepot. But in this section I am going to talk about Fixed Odds Perms for a small selection of football matches.

This will require you to search for matches were you think the home/away team has a strong chance of victory and at worst a draw because of their current form.

Permutations are simply a series of bets that cover the same selections. If you were to bet on three matches that you think will be home wins and cover the possibility of one of them being a draw.

The bet would look like this:

Match 1: 1 X 1 1
Match 2: 1 1 X 1
Match 3: 1 1 1 X

If the odds were 4/5 for the home win and 2/1 for the draw then the line of home wins would pay 5.83 points less your point stake.

If one of the other lines wins then the payout is 9.72 points less one point for your stake.

Your total profit on each bet would be 1.83 points and 5.72 points.

Now you could change the staking in order to ensure a payout of £100 whichever of the four permutations wins. To do this divide £100 by the potential winnings ie 100 / 5.83 = 17.15 and 100 / 9.72 = 10.29 (X 3). Our total outlay to win £100 would be £48.02 (a profit of £51.98).

If the odds are better (ie,evens and 9/4) then the winnings are more and the outlay is less giving a better profit!

You can change things further if you are convinced that all three games will be home wins and you want to cover the draw bets for less just as a safety net! You could set a win target for the home win line of £150 and a win for the draw lines of £50. The calculation would be as follows:

Line 1: 150 / 5.83 = £25.73 stake
lines 2 - 4: 50 / 9.72 = £5.14 stake each line
Total outlay £41.15 If line 1 wins you win £108.85 and any of the other three wins you collect £8.85 profit.

Now if you want to add more matches your bet would look as follows:

Match 1: 1 X 1 1 1
Match 2: 1 1 X 1 1
Match 3: 1 1 1 X 1
Match 4: 1 1 1 1 X

Five bets assuming odds of 4/5 and 2/1
Line 1: pays 10.50 points less you point stake
Lines2 - 5: pays 17.50 points less your point stake

To win £100 on all lines then you would need to stake
Line 1: £9.52
Lines 2 - 5: £5.71
Total £32.36 and profit of £67.64 on any winning line.

If you wanted to bet on 4 games and cover two for a draw then the permutations would look like this:

Match 1: 1 X 1 1 1 X X X 1 1 1
Match 2: 1 1 X 1 1 X 1 1 X X 1
Match 3: 1 1 1 X 1 1 X 1 X 1 X
Match 4: 1 1 1 1 X 1 1 X 1 X X

Eleven bets assuming odds of 4/5 and 2/1
Line 1: pays 10.50 points less your point stake
Lines 2 - 5: pays 17.50 points less your point stake
Lines 6 - 11: pays 29.16 points less your point stake

To win £100 on all lines then you would need to stake
Line 1: £9.52
Lines 2 - 5: £5.71
Lines 6 - 11: £3.43
Total £52.94 and profit of £47.06 on any winning line.

A perm can be a profitable bet. Do not get gready and try for too many matches in any one perm!
